Warming is when you heat a food to a desired temperature. It is usually more gradual than “heating”.

Difficulty to learn: Easy

Some Thoughts For You:

Warming a food or beverage may make it more appealing, comforting, and palatable. Warming is similar to reheating. Warming may be used to melt an ingredient that is solid at room temperature, such as butter, cheese, and chocolate. The food may already be fully cooked. If the food is raw, internal temperatures should be checked.

Methods used to warm food, include:

  • Dry heat (oven, convection oven, warming oven).
  • Direct heat (grill, griddle, pan).
  • Steam (steamer, double boiler).
  • Radiation (microwave).

Tips For You:

  • Sometimes if you have the food cooked but wont be eating for a bit, warming can be a good method to keep your food hot! Just set your oven to a low temperature and stick it in. Search online for suggested warming temperatures for different foods.
