The avocado is a fruit that contains a single seed. They have a green-skinned, fleshy body that may be pear-shaped, egg-shaped, or spherical (Wikipedia, nd).
An avocado allergy is not very common, but just like other types of allergies, symptoms may range from mild to severe, with life threatening anaphylactic reactions. Depending on the type of avocado allergy (whether to tree pollen or fruit latex), symptoms may vary, requiring medical consultation for proper treatment (Med Guidance, 2015).
Generally, the avocado is served raw, but can also be used as the base for the Mexican dip known as guacamole or in other foods and drinks. It can also be found in numerous body products.
