What You Will Need:

For quartering most foods, you will need:

  • A sharp knife
  • A cutting board

Basic Steps:

The following steps are for quartering a round food like a tomato. Quartering foods like chicken are slightly different, but remember that your end goal is to have four equally sized pieces of the food.

  1. Get your cutting board and knife ready. Wash the tomato.
  2. Place the tomato on the cutting board, and cut it in half from top to bottom. You should now have two equally sized halves.
  3. Place one half face down and cut it in half. Repeat for the other uncut half. Now you should have four equally sized pieces!
